Stonebond continues expansion with new Guildford operation

Family-owned Stonebond has opened a new Guildford operation, its fifth regional business alongside Chelmsford, St Albans, Sevenoaks and Solihull.

The Guildford operation is a further step forward for Stonebond’s ambitious growth plans; in the past 18 months the Chelmsford-based housebuilder has grown significantly. Volumes and revenues are set to double this year, alongside the delivery of more than 400 homes and more than £100m of Group revenue.

Stonebond Guildford will be headed up by Matthew Whale, who brings over 15 years of experience operating across the Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire regions, working for Berkeley Homes and Countryside Properties in that time.

In line with Stonebond’s wider partnerships-focused strategy, the Guildford team will be seeking suitable land and development opportunities that can be delivered in partnership with local authorities, Registered Providers and PRS Investors.

Andrew Cornelius, Group Chief Executive of Stonebond, said:

“The opening of our Guildford operation is another important milestone in our wider long-term vision to build 1,000 homes per annum by 2025. The region offers excellent growth opportunities and I’m looking forward to working closely with Matthew and the team.”

Matthew Whale, Managing Director of Stonebond Guildford, added:

“I’m delighted to join Andrew and his experienced leadership team. Stonebond’s evolution in the past three years has been evident through its regional expansion, and its partnerships-focused strategy for further growth is the right one for a competitive marketplace. I’m looking forward to adding my skills to the business here in Guildford and replicating the successful growth of other regions.”
