New Woodside Place residents Allan and Nick were not originally planning on moving to a new home, but since they’ve moved in, they haven’t looked back.
The couple had been planning to extensively renovate their previous property, but having explored this option in detail they changed their minds and opted to purchase a new home.
Allan explains: “We’d been in our previous home for many years and we were very happy there – it was perfect for us as our neighbours were lovely and we backed onto a nature reserve. We wanted to renovate and had drawn up plans for an extension, but we couldn’t do quite what we wanted and it was working out to be very costly. That’s when we thought we would see about investing in a new home rather than our old house that was starting to become a bit of an ongoing project.”
Having lived in such a tranquil area, they were keen to find a new home that would offer similar views and a sense of community. After viewing a few older houses, they came across Woodside Place, a development built by Stonebond in Basildon, before arranging a viewing of the original show home, which was fully furnished.
Nick says: “We had looked at other developments nearby and weren’t immediately thrilled with the location, but Woodside Place felt like a completely different area and very peaceful. We actually found the house on Rightmove and we came to view it the next day and we snapped it up! We were really attracted to the show home because of the great decor – it immediately felt like it had been designed for us. The views were great and the house looked like a home immediately. We were impressed with the size of the bedrooms and the large kitchen space.”
With Allan often working globally for NBC Universal and Nick regularly flying for his work as Cabin Crew with Virgin Atlantic, proximity to the M25 and London was really important for them both.
“Even though Allan works from home some days, London is easily accessible. Lakeside is close by for shopping and in the summer we can drive to Southend for fish and chips in the evenings. Looking to the future, the lower Thames crossing will be great for travel links to our family in Kent, and closer to home we have some great friends in the area.” explains Nick.
Having made the big decision to move, the couple are now looking forward to enjoying their new home, as well as making use of their spacious garden, which they plan to use for hosting next summer.
“We have found the whole team at Stonebond to be professional and friendly and nothing has felt like too much trouble. We are so impressed with the quality of our new home and it really does feel like we have lived there for a long time. From the sales team, the completion team and even interactions with the onsite builders, everyone has been super friendly and welcoming.” Allan adds.
