Family find their forever home just minutes from their door

For Muhommed Patel (39) and George Thomas Wood (47), finding a new home to accommodate their incredibly busy family life was a key factor in their search. Leading busy lifestyles with their two children, they needed a home that could cater for each element of their day-to-day lives. After viewing Stonebond’s new Radio Place site in St Albans, they were the very first purchasers to reserve after falling in love with a luxurious four-bedroom property.

Muhommed is a digital product owner at Investec Wealth & Investment and George is the Chief Business Officer for the St John’s Ambulance. George has recently been knighted for his inspirational dedication to the charity and his volunteer work, which includes being involved with the current humanitarian aid effort in Ukraine. He comments: “It is a privilege to work for St John’s Ambulance; we support 44 British Commonwealth countries, train approximately in England alone they train on average 250,000 first aiders per year and have vaccinated over 25% of the nation against Covid-19. Most recently, we’ve been working to deliver aid to Ukraine, providing ambulances, supplies and first aid training whilst supporting incoming Ukrainian families forced to leave Ukraine. With all of this going on, our home life is really fast-paced and there is hardly ever a quiet moment! This meant it was so important for our family to find the right home, so we could have a gorgeous place to all come together and spend time together at the end of a busy week.”

The couple have two children, 14-year-old Zayyaan who lives with the couple in St Albans, and 11-year-old Zaynah who is currently living with family in South Africa to finish school before moving to the UK. George continues: “After renting just next door to the development at Jersey Farm, we decided that purchasing a new home was our next step, so that we are settled for when Zaynah moves back here. We were keen to stay in the area as we love it, but we wanted a home where we would have more space to flourish together.” Incredibly, whilst at church, Muhommed prayed for the perfect house to bring the family together and the same day, they found their dream home at Radio Place.

Muhommed comments: “The minute we saw our new home, we fell in love. The house is carefully nestled away at the front of the site, meaning it is not overlooked by anyone and we have a fabulous sized garden which was really important as we wanted outdoor space for the children to enjoy.  I really care about the environment and am really pleased that there is an opportunity for us to have an electric car charging point as we hope to buy an electric car in the future. Internally, the home has plenty of space for each of us to have our own privacy, and the wonderful open-plan layout downstairs is ideal for that all-important family time we desire.”

The couple love the rural feel of St Albans with its plethora of countryside routes and surrounding footpaths. George comments: “Because we have such busy lifestyles, being surrounded by nature is how we like to wind down. Zayyaan and I frequently go on long walks together, and the nearby footpaths mean we can walk to Hatfield or the local gym to save using our car. Muhommed and I are also both hybrid workers and commute to London three days a week. Being close to St Albans and Hatfield Station is crucial. Alongside this, there are great local schools nearby and St Albans is fantastic for shopping and dining – there are over 100 restaurants for us to try!”

Looking forward to the future, the family is currently working with locally-based interior designers, Elizabeth Matthews Interiors, to create their dream vision for their new home. Interior enthusiast Muhommed comments: “We have the perfect new home and are really excited to make it our own with Elizabeth Matthews’ help.  Our daughter has a particular eye for detail and wants her bedroom to be ‘Shanti Chic’, whilst our son hopes for a bedroom  apt for gaming whilst still being cosy. We want our home to have a hotel-luxe feel and to continue this theme, we plan to landscape our garden and add an orangery.”

The couple were grateful to the Stonebond team for making their experience simple, straight forward and stress free. Muhommed comments: “Radio Place is a great development – the estate is simply magnificent and we are really impressed with the Stonebond staff, their unparalleled service and professionalism. Stonebond truly are the jewel in new development and we would highly recommend them to anyone searching for their dream family home.”
