Kate Davies CBE joins Stonebond Board as Non-Executive Director

Kate Davies CBE, the outgoing Chief Executive of Notting Hill Genesis, has joined the Board of partnerships housebuilder Stonebond as Non-Executive Director.

Davies, who has spent 18 years at the helm of the major housing provider, was awarded a CBE for services to housing in Queen Elizabeth II’s birthday honours list earlier this year.

A hugely respected affordable housing professional, she has overseen Notting Hill Genesis’ large-scale development programme across all tenures, the creation of a private rent business, the introduction of a new housing management model and a merger that created one of the largest housing associations in the country.

She will advise the Stonebond Board on areas including governance, growth, customer service and sustainability.

Commenting, she said:

“I have worked with both Richard and Graham (co-Chairmen of Stonebond) for almost two decades and during that time I have always been impressed by their integrity, deep knowledge and commitment to creating places. Whilst Stonebond is a relatively young company it has already established itself and has a great reputation for quality and delivery. The amount of embedded experience and knowledge is palpable.

“Stonebond is already addressing housing need across the country, and clearly the business is keen to build mixed-tenure communities.  I’m impressed by the quality of the Stonebond product, which is being designed with long term maintenance in mind, and there is a real commitment to the sustainability agenda.

“After meeting with Andrew (Cornelius, Group Chief Executive), I was impressed by the company’s strategy and vision, and I could see there is a fantastic opportunity to scale and grow the business.”

Andrew Cornelius, Group Chief Executive at Stonebond, said:

“Kate holds a comprehensive understanding of the housing market and we are delighted that she has chosen to share this experience and knowledge with Stonebond. Throughout her career she has been committed to addressing housing need and delivering more affordable homes, whilst not compromising on quality and sustainability – an ambition that we share. Having overseen sustained growth at Notting Hill Genesis, her robust understanding of governance will be of great value to Stonebond, as we continue to grow.”

Graham Cherry, Co-Chairman of Stonebond, said:

“Adding Kate’s skills, experience and knowledge to our Board is a huge asset, and I’m delighted that we will be able to benefit from her strategic advice as the company continues to grow and increase its partnerships-led housebuilding. Her approach to build quality, customer service and the ESG agenda is closely aligned with our strategy and direction, whilst her experience of leading Notting Hill Genesis for the past 18 years will provide invaluable advice to day-to-day management.”

Richard Cherry, Co-Chairman of Stonebond, said:

“We are increasingly working in partnership with local authorities, PRS Investors and Registered Providers – more than 75% of the homes we built by in the last twelve months were delivered with affordable housing providers and other partners – and Kate’s vast experience of affordable housing provision will be of great value to the business as we continue to grow and expand this area of work.”
