Stonebond’s plans for 110 new homes in Takeley approved

Stonebond’s plans for 110 new homes in Takeley have been approved.

Under our new proposals, we’ll be creating a development of one, two, three and four bedroom properties, including bungalows and custom build homes.

The scheme will deliver 44 affordable homes, of which 70% will be for affordable rent and 30% for shared ownership.

They will be built in styles that reflect the area’s local character, with a Fabric First approach that increases energy performance, alongside electric car charging points for every home.

The construction period is expected to generate more than 300 jobs locally, whilst we’ll be planting 229 new trees and creating one hectare of new woodland.

New bird watching areas, dog walking routes and outdoor play areas for children will also be created.

Located close to Bishop’s Stortford, the site originally had outline planning permission for 119 homes. However, to achieve the landscape-led development that we were looking for, we decided to reduce the overall number of homes.

Work is set to start by September 2022 and we anticipate welcoming our first residents into the new homes next summer.

Robert Wilkinson, Managing Director of Stonebond Chelmsford, comments “We’re delighted to have received approval for our plans at Takeley; the scheme will be a great addition to Stonebond’s portfolio, delivering new homes with a focus on energy efficiency as well as enhancing amenities for the local community.”
