Stonebond acquires site in Takeley with plans for 110 new homes

Premium developer and partnerships housebuilder Stonebond has acquired a new site in Takeley, Essex, with the benefit of outline planning consent.

Stonebond intends to submit a Reserved Matters planning application for 110 homes in early 2022, with works expected to commence in the second half of the year.

The development will provide for both private and affordable homes, including some custom build homes.

More than five acres of new public, green spaces will also be created, including a new walking route through the development. Local transport improvements will include the creation of a new roundabout.

Family-owned Stonebond was established over 40 years ago and is privately funded by the Cherry family, who were the founders of Countryside Properties. Having developed a reputation for delivering high-quality new homes predominantly in Essex, the business is now increasingly working in partnership with local authorities, PRS Investors and Registered Providers to deliver mixed-tenure communities.

Commenting, Robert Wilkinson, Managing Director of Stonebond (Chelmsford), said:

“This site is another great acquisition for the business and one that will provide a welcome boost to the supply of affordable homes in the area. It aligns with our mixed-tenure strategy and we look forward to delivering the much-needed new homes at pace.”

Duncan Jenkins, from Endurance Estates, who promoted the land on behalf of the vendor, added:

“Endurance Estates are delighted to be working with Stonebond on this gateway site at Takeley. We were keen to select a partner who understood the local market and had a great track record in delivering high quality new homes. We can’t wait to see this development and associated parkland take shape.”
