Eco-inspired show homes unveiled in Cambridge

New research has revealed that the top features first-time buyers are looking for in a home include a modern kitchen, natural light, real grass outdoor space and energy efficiency.[1] The homes at the new ground-breaking development, Stonebond at Waterbeach, have all these features and more, demonstrated by the three-bedroom show home and two-bedroom show apartment. Prospective buyers are now being welcomed to view and envisage a new life in this exciting transformation.

Stonebond at Waterbeach forms the gateway to Waterbeach Barracks, a new community of 6,500 homes by Urban&Civic, designed to create a thriving community just outside of the city centre. The neighbourhood by Stonebond is rich in ecology, biodiversity and heritage and comprises 89 homes including apartments and houses, ranging in size from one to four bedrooms. The high-quality homes include detached villas overlooking a stunning established woodland area. Each property has a high  specification, carefully designed layouts and a clear focus on incorporating sustainable additions.

On the launch of Stonebond at Waterbeach and the show homes, Annette Cole, Sales and Marketing Director at Stonebond comments: “This is an incredibly exciting time for us, having launched our new development with an interactive marketing suite and two stunning show homes, it’s great to be making our mark in Cambridge. The natural elements to this development and the sustainable additions included within the homes are what makes Stonebond at Waterbeach such a special and unique place. We worked closely with Haus Interiors to create a look which incorporated the innovative, contemporary and sustainable vision for the wider development and demonstrated this through the show home interiors.”

The two show plots, designed by Haus Interiors, are inspired by memorable colour wheels and incorporate upcycled items, connecting to the rural surroundings and sustainable attributes of the development. Felicity Stevens, Director at Haus Interiors comments: “For the apartment, we chose a luxurious combination of jewel tones throughout to add depth and opulence as we wanted to show how this look can be achievable using locally sourced and upcycled items. We used light upholstery, bolder wallpapers and gold accents, alongside a stand-out sideboard with a luxurious 3D front and we wanted this piece to stand out.”

Felicity continues: “For the show house, we opted for a light and bright interior but with a punchier mix of colours as this home is aimed at a family audience. We drew the focus to the first-floor lounge with both an armchair and sofa. Bedroom 1 has teal and blue colours running through, and bedroom 2 has a brighter more striking colour palette with a burnt red winged headboard to create a boutique style hotel look. We also incorporated some upcycled pieces, re-using solid wooden furniture, including a black console table in the apartment, and two chest of drawers in the show home.”

Waterbeach benefits from a rich backdrop of inherited woodland, a 23 acre lake and an abundance of natural wildlife. Cambridge Science Park is just three miles away and can be reached via the direct cycle route developed along the historic Mere Way. This focus on green travel has been expanded into a Sustainable Travel Hub which encourages residents to use the extensive pedestrian routes available, hire bikes, e-bikes and scooters and make us of the regular shuttle buses to local hotspots including Waterbeach Station which provides connections to Stansted Airport in 57 minutes and London in a little over an hour. The Milton Park & Ride is also available and for those travelling by car, electric car charging points are in abundance throughout the development and the nearby A14 and M11 links residents to the M25.

Waterbeach Barracks is an all-encompassing hub, offering the very best of a connected and thriving neighbourhood where everything is on the doorstep. Residents are served by an impressive range of local amenities including a health centre, essential shops, stylish bar, community market, sports hall and community building. Families with children benefit from a number of well-equipped primary, secondary and further education facilities, as well as over 20 play areas, including Waterbeach Woodland play area.

Visiting the dynamic Cambridge hub is an easy feat with the cultural destination being a 20 minute drive away or a swift 11 minute train journey from Waterbeach train station. The city offers a beautiful waterside setting which encourages a buzz of activity on the banks whilst the local market stalls, high street favourites, range of eateries and boutique stores provide something for everyone.
