New affordable homes completed in Takeley

We’ve recently celebrated the first handovers of 25 affordable homes in Takeley, officially handing them over to Latimer – the development arm of Clarion Housing Group, the UK’s largest housing association.

A further 45 affordable homes are due to come forward as part of the development, with Stonebond also building 40 homes for the open market.

The affordable homes are offered in Shared Ownership and Affordable Rent tenures, giving local people genuine opportunities to own or rent a quality new home.

Stonebond started construction on the site in 2022, with the first residents moving in last year.

The homes are being built in styles that reflect the area’s local character, with a Fabric First approach that increases energy performance, alongside electric car charging points for every home.

Attractive landscaped spaces include 11-acres of open space, with new bird watching areas, dog walking routes and outdoor play areas for children, whilst 229 new trees are being planted.

Peter Williams, Managing Director of Stonebond Chelmsford, said:

“We’re really pleased to have reached this milestone with our partner Clarion and look forward to delivering a further 45 affordable homes, we’re delighted that the development can make a significant contribution to the local area’s affordable housing supply.”

Hannah Smart, Regional Sales Director from Latimer, said:

The homes in Takeley offer something for everyone. A great location, close to local amenities, and beautiful green spaces. We’re delighted to be able to offer a collection of affordable homes and an exciting new community for residents. Shared ownership at Takeley means that individuals and families who dream of homeownership but may find traditional routes unattainable, now have a route on to the property ladder in a brand-new community.
